There are more high-tech ways of evaluating your progress but you should learn the low-tech ways first. A smarter person will always beat a smart scale.
Been wondering about triathlons? What are they? Are they all hard? How do I find out more about them?
There is more in our FAQs section as well.
What is a triathlon? Simply put, a triathlon is a race that starts with a swim, then transitions to a bike race and finishes with a running race.
Triathlons come in all flavors from very easy to seemingly impossible.
If you are interested in doing your first triathlon, I recommend that you pick a very easy race in terms of distances and conditions. There are many "Tri For Fun" types of races that involve short distances and pool swims.
All you need to do is sign up and then go for it! (See Finding A Triathlon, below, for more information.)
If you are looking for a bigger challenge in terms of distance and conditions, I recommend finding a training group and/or a triathlon coach.
There are lots of triathlon books, but I recommend starting out with knowledgeable triathletes who can demonstrate proper technique.
Many gyms and health clubs have triathlon clubs; a Google search should yield plenty of contact information for your location. Just search for "Triathlon Clubs" in your city.
USA Triathlon also offers quite a bit of information about triathlon clubs.
The best place I know to search for and register for triathlon events is on Active.
Here you will find a range of events covering everything from beginners to experts.
Registration information is included for each listing.
"Please take a moment to feel proud of how you inspire so many people through your achievements, your attitude, and your ability to write about your adventures in such a wonderful way. You have a real gift.
I am so glad to be a part of your circle.
Best wishes"
