What are the advantages of triathlon training?

Triathlon is a wonderful form of cross training. Swimming tones muscles and provides an aerobic workout without putting much strain on the joints as the weight is supported in the water. Cycling also provides a good aerobic workout without putting much strain on the knees. Running is the most intense out of the three sports and burns the most calories per minute of exercise.

What makes triathlon particularly effective as a form of exercise is the social support that comes with it. Rather than train alone, you train with a group of people of similar abilities and goals. Now you have a place to go away from home and office where you can forget about your problems, have fun and be in the moment.
