How do I go about setting goals?
Setting realistic exercise and nutrition goals is your key! People who set unrealistic, unachievable goals become discouraged and give up.
A good way to set up a goal is to use the STAR system. A goal should be:
Specific
Trackable
Achievable
Realistic.
For example: "I will exercise aerobically in my target heart zone for a half hour 5 times per week" or "I will drink 8 glasses of water a day."
Concentrate on the exercise and nutrition goals and the weight goal will take care of itself. Also, do a variety of activities that you enjoy and you will avoid the boredom that leads to dropping out of an exercise program.
Finally, view the goal as a lifestyle change that you can maintain for the rest of your life.
